Can an editor (who is not an illustrator or designer) edit images? Absolutely! I have edited many illustrations, designs, images, logos, etc. Could I create the illustration? No. That is not my gift in life. But can I tell the illustrator that an image of a specific child had glasses on one page and not on the next? Yes! I look for continuity, I ask questions about things that give me pause (“Could this dog be confused for a piglet? Is that purposeful?” Because it could definitely be purposeful.), and I make sure intended elements and themes are hit the way the artist has intended.
